Position Details
Purpose
The Non-CDL Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and accurate transportation of seafood products between Pier Fish Company facilities, cold storage locations, airports, and customer sites. This role plays a critical part in maintaining product integrity, ensuring compliance with food safety and transportation standards, and supporting overall operational efficiency. The Non-CDL Driver is expected to uphold the company’s core values of Quality, Service, and Adaptability while providing reliable delivery service and maintaining strong communication with internal teams.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as applicable transportation and food safety regulations.
- Safely operate company vehicles to transport products between facilities, freezers, airports, and customer locations.
- Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately and within designated delivery windows and cut-off times.
- Communicate promptly with management and the Dock Lead regarding delivery issues, delays, discrepancies, or questions.
- Properly load and secure cargo using required equipment, including load bars (non-negotiable), to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
- Verify product at pickup and delivery, including case counts, pallet counts, and product temperatures.
- Inspect shipments for damage or temperature deviations; document and report any issues immediately.
- Complete and process all required documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOLs), Proof of Pickup (POP), receiving records, and customer signatures.
- Conduct daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections; complete inspection reports and notify management of any maintenance needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned vehicle, including daily interior and exterior cleaning.
- Participate in weekend rotation coverage, including deliveries and airport pickups as assigned.
- Ensure completion of late or after-hours airport pickups as directed by management or the Dock Lead.
- Provide professional and courteous service during all customer and facility interactions.

Physical Requirements
- Ability for lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. regularly, occasional heavier lifting with assistance.

- Ability to work in varying temperature environments, including refrigerated and freezer conditions.
Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned by Shipping & Receiving Manager or Dock Lead.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
- Prior delivery driving experience, preferably in food distribution or refrigerated transport, is a plus.
- Ability to operate a non-CDL commercial vehicle safely and efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and product handling.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules.
- Basic understanding of safety, GMP, and food handling practices preferred.
Work Environment
- Primarily field-based, operating company vehicles for deliveries and pickups.
- Frequent exposure to cold storage/freezer environments and loading dock conditions.
Schedule Expectations
- Full-time position with early morning start times based on delivery schedules.
- Participation in a weekend rotation required.
- Flexibility to support late or after-hours airport pickups as needed.
