QA Technician

Position Details

Works side by side with the QA Supervisor to assure Food Safety and Quality at all levels of seafood production.  Works with the QA Team on all internal and external food safety and quality audits.    

  • Review analytical test results in order to assure desired quality of seafood used for processing; compiling data for quality reports or rejections from vendors
  • Orders QA supplies
  • Verify and monitor information including foreign object detection outcomes, HACCP violations, GMP violations, etc.
  • Maintain and scheduling calibrations of standards to ensure requirements are being met accurately
  • Monitor shelf life of raw materials and finished products
  • Monitor hold products
  • Monitor allergen program, and update allergen listing and information
  • Monitors ATP and monthly swab performance; adding the results to a trend log
  • Assists on the development of procedures and training documents for aspects of Processing
  • Monitor sanitation throughout the plant to ensure compliance with FDA “Good Manufacturing Practices” regulations
  • Notify appropriate personnel for correction of deficiencies
    • Record deficiencies and corrective action taken on daily sanitation report
  • Maintain a ‘Notice of Unusual Occurrences’ (NUOCA) log regarding HACCP issues
    • Record deficiencies and corrective action taken on daily sanitation report
  • Must be able to prioritize projects and meet critical deadlines
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Must be proficient in computer software skills including knowledge of Word, Excel
  • Knowledge of charts, graphs and formula creation features required
  • Must possess and have the ability to analyze trend reports
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be organized, attentive to details, and have an “analytical mind”
  • Must possess good common sense and sound judgement
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Emphasis on flexibility, creative approach and problem solving
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks through to completion
  • Ability to make responsible decisions based on facts, regulations, and/or industry guidelines
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Must exhibit reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Flexibility required: ability to work different shifts and different hours
  • Shall place questionable items on hold until final dispositions are received
  • Contributes to a harmonious work environment, enhancing cooperation and productivity
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 3 years related experience
    Some education related to the work experience
  • HACCP certification and experience managing a HACCP plan and a
    SQF Certification program
  • The plant work environment will expose the employee to some noise, food grade dust & odors, moving & vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks, heights, traffic, anhydrous ammonia, oil and electricity.
  • Completion of all general safety, sanitation, GMP’s procedures, and OSHA required training
  • Products and customer base knowledge
  • GMP training, understanding of HACCP CCP’s /Quality Points
